You Have Everything (or can anyway)

"Wait. You might have glossed over that last paragraph-perhaps because it's so short but especially because it's so challenging.

What I'm saying is that one person can make a video that reaches fifty million viewers.

What I'm saying is that one person can invent a pricing model that turns an industry upside down.

What I'm saying is that one person-okay, what I really me is you-has everything. Everything you need to build something far bigger than yourself. The people around you realize this, and they are ready to follow if you're ready to lead"

- Seth Godin from the book Tribes: We Need You to Leads Us

Chance Needs to Be There

"It's important for me to have some element of chance or surprise when I'm doing (my art)."

- Josh Brand from an episode of Arts & Minds

I completely agree with this thought. I don't like to plan out every single detail of any endeavor, whether it be writing, teaching a lesson, or a vacation. I need to let things unfold as they will. I am often surprised at how things work out, for the best.

Of course, I do have a plan before I set out. Sometimes, however, it is only the bare bones of one so that element of chance or surprise can perform its wonders.

Create Yourself

"Life isn't about finding yourself. Life's about creating yourself."

- George Bernard Shaw

I found this one on Twitter. I so love Twitter. This one was posted by Mind Power Now

I hope you all have a great holiday weekend!

An Idea Will Jump Up

"Think about it deeply. Then forget and an idea will jump up in your head."

- Donald Draper, character on series Mad Men.

This quote really speaks to the creative process. It fits right in with my TLCW recipe for writing.

It basically works like this.

T - think of an idea.
L - leave it alone for a while.
C - your brain will keep thinking about how to make it work on a subconscious level.
The idea will then jump into your head and you can W - write.

It works every time.
